Indian Economic Stimulus Amid Pandemic Expected to Total INR1.7T, Fin Min Says

The Indian government came up with an economic stimulus package expected to total 1.7 trillion Indian rupees ($22.26 billion) to help the poor, suffering workers and those in need of help, the country’s finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Thursday.
Earlier this week, India’s prime minister Narendra Modi ordered all nonessential government offices and private businesses to shut down and all Indians to remain at home for three weeks to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.
